How do I place a hold in OverDrive?
Answer
OverDrive allows for holds to be placed if all copies of a title are currently in use.
-
Log in to your account on the OverDrive website or the Libby app. Need help logging in?
-
Once logged in, search Overdrive for a title you would like to check out.
-
Once you have located the item you are looking for, click the cover to view more details
-
If all copies of the item are currently in use, the Borrow button will be replaced with Place A Hold
-
-
Click the "Place A Hold" button, and the item will be added to your hold list. A popup window will confirm your place in line, and provide a link to your hold list.
- If you place the hold on the OverDrive website, you will receive an email notification when your hold is ready.
- If you place the hold through the Libby app, you will be notified via push notifications on your device. If you prefer an email notification, you can log in to the website and add an email address to your hold request via your Bookshelf.
Once your hold is ready, you will have 72 hours to check it out. If you miss the check out deadline, you will remain on the hold list and receive another notification once a copy is available.
